Hi,

I would like to recommendation for a surveyor for a house purchase in Dublin.
The house size 150sqm and it is a protected structure.
Any indication on price would be appreciated aswell,

thanks,

Brian

We found him fantastic. No connection.

If you need a mortgage, check with the bank if a house buyers report from a surveyor will suffice. I've seen posts about some banks insisting on an engineers report for older properties.

Thanks for your replies Deekie and RedOnion.

My bank is PTSB, will check if they require an engineer over surveyor

Hi,

I have decided I would like an engineer report.
There is damp in the back walls with crumbling plaster. I am expecting building work to repair.
Can any recommend an engineer to produce an engineers report?

thanks,

Brian

Brian,

I'd suggest before choosing you that you ask an engineer to provide you a sample report so you understand what you're going to get for your money. The report is something you could potentially use to sue the engineer in future, so there can be a lot of caveats, particularly with a single site visit report. The report will be a structural report of the entire building. If you specifically want damp issues for example addressed, then tell them that up front as it might add to their work.
And, I'd recommend meeting them at the house when they've done a walk through - they might informally give advice that they won't write in report.
