Stupid carpark tip = €1000?

a one in a million chance - who's to say it won't happen when you reverse in?
If you reverse in, you have the opportunity to survey all around you immediately before you commence reversing. If you drive in/reverse out, you don't have this opportunity.

Check out professional drivers (truckers, bus drivers) - they will always reverse in/drive out.

My boyfriends imported Toyota was the victim of a hit and run. Huge amount of damage to bumper and boot etc... Went to Toyota dealer and they quoted over €4000 for repairs - they'll always be the most expensive. Ended up getting a local panel beater to fix it for €250 and paid €150 for a new light. Surely you are entitled to get an independent quote!

Surely the innocent party is entitled to a quality repair job, not a back street garage job?

We were the innocent party and were very happy with the repair job received. Why make someone pay 8 times the amount just to make a point!!!!

It's nothing to do with 'making a point'. I'd want to make sure I had a repair job that wasn't going to be detected by a professional when trading in the car. I'd have little confidence of getting this from a back street garage.

If you're happy with your repair, that's great for you. But insisting on a 'main dealer' repair job is not unreasonable to protect the value of your car.

A crashed and repaired car will be devalued regardless of who fixes it.

Furthermore many main dealers do not do body repairs anymore, and simply farm the work out to specialised bodyshops and mark up the repair costs.

It is therefore quite reasonable to get a 2nd quote from a bodyshop of the OP's choice.

I wouldn't disagree with this, but that's not the point that we are debating...

does your premium get increased after a claim or is it just a case of losing your claims, i.e. will the basic preium be the same less the 50% reductio?
