looking at a killer budget coming up i must admit we are already struggling to live on meagre benefits. family of 5, 3 adults and 2 children paying morgage and all bills and getting 415e a week total, so im struggling to see a way forward.
im just wondering at this stage if we are getting all the benefits available. we are currently on an enterprise alowance as we have tried to start up a business and unfortuntely for us is in the luxury services sector, which is not doing business across the board. if we were on jobseekers allowance we would get the same amount.
this week we have to "can " our business or drop to 300e a week and this is just not an option as u can imagine. so im going to have to sign on for jobseekers allowance. note, i have been looking for 9 months now and my experience is that employers are ony employing people who will perform from day 1, not even a week or 2 to come up to speed etc. in my sector.
so coming from a niche area which is extremely highly skilled i have a small learning curve.
to cut to the chase, i will get jsa for 2 adults and 3 children, fuel allowance
and thats it, although my son is 21 and is an adult in college and ive 2 younger children. we have medical card and bin charge help also.
dont like to moan just wondering if we are missing anything and have contributed heavily to the tax net down through the years.

Have you looked into mortgage interest supplement from your Community Welfare Officer to help with the interest part of your mortgage? There are lots of terms and conditions but it's worth a shot.

Also, if you haven't already left the enterprise allowance payment, some of the start-up costs of your business can be met under a scheme called the Technical Assistance and Training Scheme. It's quite a limited grant and it has to be approved by a job facilitator but it might be worth enquiring with him/her.
