Hello,

I am transferring funds from an old pension to a Standard Life PRSA pension of mine.

I am transferring approx 10K. My total pension pot (Standard Life and elsewhere) is > 500K. So the 10K is only a small portion.

I'd like to learn about investing. I am happy to take on a high risk with this 10K . The earliest I will need it is in 10 years time.

I'd like to choose the funds , and diversify - in order to hedge bets a bit, but also if I follow them it will be a good learning process.

Any thoughts on what funds to choose ?
And also, any pointers on material to learn about investing?

You don't say what age you are but my approach with my pension (even in my late 50s and starting to draw down small amounts given that I've de facto taken early retirement a few years ago) is too stick it in a low charges so equity index tracker (e.g. MCSI World Equity Index tracker) and leave it alone long term. Even through the recent/ongoing market volatility. I certainly would meddle with it in some attempt to learn about investing. To do that I would read a book or two do some "fantasy" investing that doesn't actually involve/risk any money. But there's no magic formula for picking winning stocks with any consistency if that's what you're seeking.
