Stamp Duty Rebate

Hi

I've moved into a 2nd hand house on which I've paid stamp duty. I'm now thinking of selling the house and moving on (a whole different story) and am wondering if because I'm only in the house 2 months if I can claim back any of the stamp duty I paid, if I go ahead and sell.
thanks for any help.

Once the stamp is issued you are deemed to have taken ownership as far as I know. If you were a first time buyer and owner occupier you are giving up quite a lot of privelages if you want to re-sell so quickly But maybe you're not a FTB ? It may be more prudent to stay put if at all possible if you are.

tanx elcato. I'm not a first time buyer but if I resell the house, I will have to buy again which is where the problem is as I get caught for stamp again (€35,000 approx). I just thought that there may be a loophole that might return the stamp duty I paid as I had only taken up residency for a very short period.

I don't think that there is any means by which stamp duty is refunded in these or any other circumstances.
