Re: buying a stairs, where do i begin to look?

There's a company in Navan who make staircases to order. I have no idea what they charge but their website is www.hogankitchens.com - there is a sample on their homepage.

Declaration: I have no affiliation to this company

try looking up joinery's in the yellow pages, also if you happen to have anyone building near to you ask them as I find that you need to reference check everyone these days

Its probably best to check some images of stairs that you like - spindle shapes, newel posts, monkey tails etc and then give them to your builder or stairs provider to replicate. Also think about the finish ie with or without carpet. Good luck.

If you want a stairs as a feature of your house, what you need to ask for when pricing in white oak, cut string with ramps and a monkeys tail. Dont forget to ask what way the stairs will be finished underneath i.e. if you are going to put a press in there or leave it open etc

Re: buying a stairs, where do i begin to look?

we got a quote yesterday to supply and fit 2 full size white oak staircases in our house. ground floor staircase has a wider rounded step, spindles and all the trimmings, panelled underneath so left open, the staircase from the first floor to second floor has shaped open steps like an arch so to let the light flow better. price was 7,400 euros inclusive of VAT for supply and labour. we will then varnish or oil ourselves. based in longford.
