Hi all,

Many of you will have heard about the new social welfare for artists scheme.

I am confused about how this will work. It says artists may claim welfare for 12 months without being subject to the usual procedures.

1. How does one prove one is an artist?
2. What are the usual procedures from which these individuals will be exempt?
3. What about income procured from other sources or savings? Will these impact ability to claim?
 
They register with the relevant Artists/Sculptors rep groups.
As I understand it, this means they don't have to show up for work activation/FAS type schemes. No cleaning ditches, picking up litter etc for our Artists.
