Recently theres been an awful smell coming from the drum of my washing machine,no smell out of drawer for detergent, any ideas what it could be or how to fix? Cheers:)

On a lot of machines there is a filter where the water is pumped out if this is partially blocked it can cause a smell to come from the drum.

I have a miele washing machine and there is a small door under the drum whereby I empty and clean the filter between 5 - 10 washes. Like you it took the smell for me to check out the problem. No problem since I started cleaning the filter.

Thanks but the filter is clear, lot of lime in the water round here, wonder if that has anything to do with it

It could be from a built up of slime around the rubber seal at the door, have a look there.

Thanks Sue Ellen, lot of good advice in there but i've tried most of the things that were recommended. There's no smell off clothes after wash,we use powder, dont use fabric softener, pipes are clear,no slime around the rubber seal, maybe it's just banjaxed!!

check the outlet pipe [waste] there could be some dirt lodged in a flat section ,also lave the door on the drum slightly open

You can get a product to clean your machine, where you pour the product into the detergent drawer and run a wash cycle. Might help?

When running it empty, do a 90 degree wash with a small drop of milton or domestos and if your machine weighs the clothes and uses the amount of water needed add water through the detergent drawer until you can see a decent amount of water at the bottom of the drum
