Hi,

I was looking at moving to Sky Mobile Ireland. I find so many of their phones are out of stock (besides the more expensive ones). I cant find any phone number to call them to see when the phone i want is back in stock. Has anyone a phone number for them? Also, do they regularly update their stock? Seems a bit bizarre to actively advertise so many mediums then have no proper contact details and stock..

Vodafone:

Thanks for that ClubMan. My pay monthly plan with VF is up shortly and they rang me last week and made an offer for me stay which was 30 Euro a month for 6 months and then 35 Euro for the next 6. I've been paying an average of 20 Euro a month to them for the last year (includes a fiver off bb) so the renewal offer is pitiful.

I moved to Skymobile ireland last year from Vodafone and have had nothing but problems since. The transfer from old sim to new one was not straight forward and had to ring them to change multiple settings on my phone. Every time I go abroad the phone sim doesn't work including to Europe. Again had to ring them for advice on change of settings. I never had this problem with other providers. I regret moving to them and cannot wait to change.

I'm on the €10 plan and have had no difficulty. I don't know much about these things but I have heard some comments that not all phone brands/models have been "provisioned" to carry Sky Ireland and that this can lead to problems. Apparently this is gradually improving.
I assume any of the devices they retail themselves are provisioned - but may not be great value otherwise.

Lots of sim only plans available for €15 or less per month.
I’m on AnPost’s €15 plan which uses the Vodafone network and never have any problems with it, home or abroad.

I joined Sky Mobile on the €15/month for life deal in January. Initially had problems with the eSim where I found it difficult to connect to 4G/5G; turned out it was a known problem with my iPhone model but they were able to put in a temporary solution and it was sorted on the next IOS update and no issues since.

I also had settings issues, they went out of their way to help, but it was annoying, and not fully rectified when I am roaming. I suspect it is teething issues with their virtual network settings. Despite good customer service on the topic, I'd recommend going with mre established carriers - should be able to get similar prices.

Also, there is almost never value in paying for a phone on a monthly basis in my experience. Do the maths.
