Self-administered, flexible pension

Hi all,
I'm looking for a steer on whether there is a mechanism by which I can create a pension where I control where I invest - be it in funds, REITs, or anything else, inside or outside Ireland - with just a simple management fee for maintaining the pension.

For example, I create a PRSA here with a low fee for administration, then I can choose to invest it via a US-based broker like Schwab into investment products there.

Any advice really appreciated.
Thanks
John

Self directed PRSAs aren't that cheap. Most have tiered charging structures where you are paying 3% amc when starting off. They get cheaper as the value of your fund increases, but you will be paying 1% when it gets to €200,000.

You are better off using an insurance company product and invest in an index fund while building it up to that level.

thank you both - much appreciated. @steven is one self-directed pension as good as the other - i.e., the only differentiation if I'm directing investments myself is fees?

By any chance are you mixing up the term self-administered (self-directed) with a simple/common insured product where you can choose from a comprehensive list of active/passive funds that cover all asset classes?

no, I'm trying to find a way of investing in specific products within the wrapper of a pension

Try Standard Life Synergy Product, 1% AMC, via stock broker Stock Trade. Set limit order on Stock Trade web site and buy your share. Or Davy Select as has been mentioned.
