Second hand car woes!

We just got a call from the Peugeot garage. The car needs a whole new gear box.....We rang the seller and told him this..he replied that he would fix the faulty linkage( not covered by warranty) for €130, and that the car did not need a new gearbox(covered by warranty).
We told him that we do not feel confident bringing the car back to him to be repaired.We said that the only way we would bring the car back was if we wanted a refund...he said 'that wasn't going to happen'. We then told him we are taking the matter to the small claims court.

I agree the problem here is not with the type of car, but rather the Arthur Daly Garage.

I on the other hand last year purchased a new Focus 1.6 TDci last year. And it is the biggest piece of rubbish I ever owned. Oil Leaks, 6 (yes 6) replacement Turbo Pipes, loose Drivers Seat. Of course the garage fix the problems under warranty etc.
