Have a rental property- semi d, the other property has been sold last year and was not in good condition prior to sale.

It's in even worse condition now. Estate agent wouldn't disclose owners contacts but it's now at a point where it's devaluing my own property.

How do I contact this person?

Ask the estate agent to pass on a note from you, that way they’re not disclosing anything and the owner can reply to you if they want to.

Chances are the owner is either elderly, sick, broke, a combination of the above, or dead.

You may be able to find out their identity on landdirect.ie.

Is the house empty or do people come and go? Can you put a letter in their letterbox asking them to contact you if so? If a recent sale, they must have plans for the house....maybe they are getting quotes from builders etc. if it was in bad condition.

No one has lived in it for over 5 years. It sold last year which was a relief as finally someone would take it in hand.

I'm at a complete loss as to why someone would do this and continue to leave it fall into decline.

My side, the house is painted and maintained but the recent storm knocked out the rotting panels on our side. I had hoped we would share the cost but I'm the horseman knocking on a moonlit door so to speak (old poem).

It can easily happen. Due to family law issues I have been the owner of a property that has lain idle/unoccupied for most of the last decade (albeit not falling into dereliction) and which I'm only in a position to deal with (sell!) having finally obtained my divorce last year. I know that the neighbours either side weren't too happy but there was nothing that I could really do until now.
