Hi lads, getting renovations done and a new roof on existing extension. Most builders are suggesting flat roof with 1 saying re do in tile and change angle.some builders are for trocal and totally against fibre glass whereas other builders are opposite.what are people’s opinion and experience of these roofs.thanks

If your going flat and it’s a decent size, I’d personally go against fibreglass too.
id rather a membrane of some sort, something along the lines of Alkor Plan 1.5 in charcoal, but you must get the details around the edges right to make it look clean, crisp and modern.

If going with a flat roof make sure there is an adequate slope on it to remove water test this when they put the screed down and before they fix the membrane. Make sure there is no ponding, sitting water etc. Make sure drainage points can take excess water. Not just normal rain

Thanks for your replies lads,at the moment it’s a tiled roof with only around a 6 degree slope which is a disgrace and bound to leak,it was on the house when we bought it and we knew we would have to change it down the line. Its roughly 32 sqm, would ye say trocal be a better option than fibre glass so or would I be better off changing the pitch and doin tile of slate
