Is there a difference between resigning and retirement from a public job and its implication on your pension? If resigning/retiring can you defer taking your pension?

Retire and you get your pension benefits straight away depending on the age requirements for your scheme ie Pre95 , Post 95 etc .
Resign before the age that you can retire and you pension benefits that you have paid into do not get paid until your 60 again depending on your particular scheme.
Thats a very basic summing up of same , others might be able to expand more depending on the info you provide.

Turned 60. Over sft and wondering whether to continue next few years to avail of increase in sft to avoid CET. No debt, own home no mortgage and have savings. Don't want to through full money makeover but just wondering of the pros and cons.
