Repair charges!

The point is that the mechanic has undertaken this work at very short notice and that the price was agreed in advance.
 
The 500 may be pricey when compared to hind sight "shop around" prices, but the following makes up for this; Car breaks down. Garage nearby so No tow charge. Mechanic able to do job in few days at no notice. Too busy to do service means he must have good reputation. Job done and then complain about price?!?!? Cheeky!
 
gUYS iM NOT BEING CHEEKY ABOUT THE PRICE OR ANYTHING ELSE. I'VE PHONED ARPOUND AND NO WHERE ELSE HAS GIVEN ME A QUOTED EVEN NEAR THE 500 MARK. I'VE BEEN DONE BEFORE WHEN IT COMES TO GETTING A CAR FIXED UP SO IM JUST VERY WARY THATS ALL NOT CHEEKY . WHEN THE CAR WAS LEFT IN THE MECHANIC SAID " IT'S AN EASY JOB SO YOU'LL HAVE IT BACK BY MONDAY AFTERNOON" I WENT DOWEN YESTERDAY TO COLLECT AND ITS NOT DONE YET AS HE'S BROKEN MY SPEEDO ON ME. WHEN I ASKED HOW IT HAPPENED I WAS TOLD " IT BROKE WHEN WE WERE TAKING THE CLUTCH OUT ,DONT WORRY THOUGH WE WONT CHARGE FOR A NEW SPEEDO" NOW IF YOU ASK ME THATS A BLOODY CHEEKY COMMENT. I UNDERSTAND THAT MECHANICS CAN TAKE AGES TO REPAIR A CAR BUT IN ALL FAIRNESS HE SAID HE HAD THE PARTS ALREDAY IN STOCK AND THAT HE'D HAVE THE CAR DONE MY MONDAY WITHOUT ME EVEN ASKING THIS. IF I COULD HAVE SHOPPED AROUND I WOULD HAVE.
