Rent Supplement had been stopped for most new applications (some exceptions and existing claims were still permitted) and applicants directed towards HAP.
However, due to COVID, Rent Supplement is again available for new applications, as a temporary measure. For details see here https://www.gov.ie/en/service/fb3b13-rent-supplement/
Longer term support will still need to be dealt with through HAP, but while applications are being considered, or if people have difficulty accessing HAP for one reason or another, Rent Supplement is available. It is also being processed much more quickly than HAP applications.
Mortgage Interest Supplement no longer is available for new claims.
