Rent A Room scheme, and tenants rent relief

Hi there,

I recently moved someone into my affordable apartment, under the rent a room scheme. My new tenant just asked me about them claiming rent relief and I couldent give them an answer if its ok.

Are they able to claim rent relief if under rent a room scheme in an affordable house ? Whats the procedure here does anyone know? Any effects against me or tenant i need to know about?

They can claim no problem. You do know that under the rent a room scheme you need to submit a return detailing your income from the room even though it will be below the threshold for tax?
