If a host and two licensees occupy a house and the host pays all expenses can the host deduct one third of all expenses as his own expenses to keep under 14k.[Confused]Thank you very much for replying T McGibney!

Far better to stay under the 14k.Thank you Danny Boy2. Yes ,sorry I should have said that if I exceed the limit can I then deduct tose expenses to bring it in line with the 14K.
Nope; its a flat 14k limit. If a host and two licensees occupy a house and the host pays all expenses can the host deduct one third of all expenses as his own expenses to keep under 14k.[Confused]
Absolutely yes. And having spent many years either sharing a rental or living in the very smallest rental I could afford, I am happy to enjoy all this extra space by myself.I would say many older people would be very wary of having someone (a stranger) living in their home.
Exactly - I didn't spend years struggling to save as a tenant just to go back to square one sharing like its the 1990s all over again.I want to murder my tenant when he cooks.....
It's great money but mother of god it tests your sanity at times!
Yes - absolutely awful case. Not just older people.
I know of someone who was brutally murdered by a lodger whom they had taken in under the rent-a-room scheme.
