My brother recently moved to Dubai to work.
He has been in touch to say he's enjoying it over there & for the past few weeks its has been on my mind to go and join him.

I realise it does have its pros & cons and was wondering if anyone has ever worked there, or do they know anyone that is out there now.

Also - some tips on getting in touch with reputable recruitment agencies to see what job oppurtunities are out there. My background is in HR, management, training.

Any suggestions/thoughts/advice are greatly appreciated.

The big negative is the cost of accommodation in Dubai and the traffic in the area. Apartments can cost you in the region of €20000 per year and you have to pay a year in advance.

The plus side guaranteed sunshine, top class leisure activity and plenty of work. There is every type of social activity out there. You get paid tax free but UAE is not really the place to go and save a lot of money. If you want to do that go to Saudi.

I was out there for a couple of day but got most of this information second hand.

I am from a recruitment agency and this is the reason I have been researching this. We have guy’s going out there in the next few weeks and will have more feed back then.

dinny, Thanks for that.

My bro pays €1k for his apartment per month. But he said anyone he has spoken to over there get it deducted from their salary and the employer pays it direct to the apartment owner.
I suppose it depends what kind of renumeration package you get.

There is a lot of money to be earned. Hes earning €72k per annum tax free.

do you know of any agencies here that recruit, could you PM me with them. I have contated a few agencies over there but none have gotten back to me yet.
