If it came down to it and you had to choose one option in order to reduce the CO2 emmisions in the atmosphere which would you choose?
To give up drinking milk and eating beef from C02 producing cows
or
Give up driving your CO2 producing car.
I'm a vegetarian who doesn't have a car. What are my options?
You've to go vegan, or at least give up milk
V rude Caveat about the emissions, if I remember from other discussiond Mrs Caveat is a veggie?
She is - and I am semi-veggie. Doesn't mean it's not true!
Just a joke batty, no offence intended.
This makes no sense. If you take out Dairy milk what substitutes for milk are you left with Soy/Coconut/Almond/Rice/Oat & barley. All of which would have to be grown in massive quantitites to meet demand. This in turn drives up the cost of food as oats and barley are in demand in other food sectors. There is more work involved in processing these raw materials in to a milk substitute. The mechinisation involved in getting this up and running never mind the continuous mechanincal requirments for land treatment, seeding & harvesting, would have huge implications on the C02 emmisions. Also additional fertilisers and seeding plastics required. You could investigate these endlessly.
Niallers, between this and the "is it illegal to sleep in your car" thread, are we being used to settle pub bets?! Or are you genuinely being inquisitive?
There are so many variables that could be debated to death but you're not giving too much scope for debate!
