Record of Service DES

My understanding is that there is a legal obligation on employers, to issue a yearly pension statement, which is largely ignored by these employers.

I think it’s appalling that there’s a half a million people with some kind of public service pension entitlement and the state can’t give them a timely forecast of what it is.

I took a case against the NSSO to the FSPO for unreasonable delay in response to my request. I won but it was basically a slap on the wrist.

Good for you somebody needs to do it. They are a Law onto themselves. I requested an urgent statement as the Pension Provider was insisting upon it ref lump sum AVC, well I’m not sure what urgent means in NSSO land and this is not a hop at the staff, but the appalling process and dysfunctional system. In every respect the interface between NSSO and Local HR has been a car crash in mine and numerous other staff cases. I felt in the end that maybe I’ll get it on my deathbed.

I think they prioritise cases close to retirement in fairness.
Yes that makes sense but if they followed the law and issued a yearly statement, the worker would have at least an indication of what their final salary would be for planning purposes particularly if the person was a short term from retirement. If semi states could do it why can’t they.

Wife is a primary teacher. She signed up for online payslips earlier this year (mad they are still being posted out fortnightly to 10s of thousands of teachers and not default online).

Is she also able to see her years of service record online or is that also still stone age?
