Can dentists charge more than €15 for dental scale & polish if I qualify for the Prsi

I rang the dentist this evening and they told me it’s €80 but €40 with the prsi

I understood it’s capped @ €15

- anyone come across this before ?

Yes, my former dentist charged 50 extra on top of prsi!

I paid €38 in 2023, and €43 last year. I read somewhere that the €15 cap only applies if the dentist does it. If it's a hygienist then the €42 prsi subsidy is deducted from their fee. As I see the hygenist, that would explain it.

Mine was done last year by hygienist not dentist in practice I have switched to and I was just charged 15
