processing probate without a solicitor

Hi My MIL recently passed leaving in her will a house for one son, land for another and a small bit of cash for her funeral expenses. The solicitor who draw up the will is requesting a percentage of the value of the house to process probate. Given my BIL is disabled and limited financial means and the value of the house is under 300,000 euro, his primary home for 60 plus years and he has no other property. We would like to try to do the probate ourselves. It looks straightforward with two exceptions
1. The land for my spouse - my spouse currently lives overseas. The value of the land is less than 25,000 euros. Will his living outside of Ireland be an issue?
2. I saw on one thread after probate we will need to do something called conveyer? Is this something that requires a lawyer to transfer the deed from my MIL to my BIL?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

IANAL

From memory, I believe the exec or administrator has to live in Ireland, otherwise you need a Solicitor.

Overseas beneficiaries aren't an issue, other than applying for a PPS if you dont have one.
