hello all, just a quick question, hope someone can help...
went to a tile shop today to price wall and floor tiles for a shower room and toilet room, the size of the shower room is 48"w X 77"l X 83"h and the size of the toilet room is 34"w X 46"w X 83"h.
could someone work out the sq yd/mtr of this for me as i think they gave a wrong size for me in the shop. also if you have bought tiles recently what price did you pay for it!
the price quoted for these 2 rooms was 948 euro. does this sound ok
thank you

This is such an open ended question it is nearly impossible to answer but here goes ...
Measurements (no guarantee they are 100% correct).
Shower Room:
Floor - 3.13 square yards (with 10% for cuts).
Wall - 17.64 square yards (with 10% for cuts).
The calculations above are given with the following in mind:
1. There is nothing subtracted for the area of the door as the measurements are not included.
2. There is nothing subtracted for the area of the window as I don't know if there is one in this room.
3. There is nothing subtracted for the area of the shower tray as I don't know if there is one in this room.
Toilet Room:
Floor - 1.32 square yards (with 10% for cuts).
Wall - 11.28 square yards (with 10% for cuts).
The calculations above are given with the following in mind:
1. There is nothing subtracted for the area of the door as the measurements are not included.
2. There is nothing subtracted for the area of the window as I don't know if there is one in this room.
After all that I hope my calculation are correct!!!
Now with respect to your query on the price of tiles, well how long is a piece of string?
Tiles can range from a few Euro per square yard to anything over a €100 per square yard.
Also, remember you are paying for tiles, adhesive, grout, seals & trims.
The price seems good but that really totally depends on the quality of the materials you are buying.
(I would guess you are buying tiles in the range of €20 - €25 per square yard based on the quote given - therefore ceramic???)
Hope this helps...
