price of garden wall

I have been quoted 4000 euro for a 9 meter garden wall, that is about 1.5 meters high with foundations, capping and pebble dashing. Anyone know if this is a good price. Thought it was a bit steep myself.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for that it gives me an idea of the price of the block work....but still not sure about the capping, foundations and pebble dash? Any ideas??

You may need to consider other factors here.

Do you live in a busy, built-up area? This can lead to problems with traffic which cost money.

Is your house in a terrace? If so, the spoil that comes out of the foundations may have to be dug out by hand and wheelbarrowed through a side gate to a trailer. Also, concrete for the foundations, blocks for the walls, sand and cement for the pebble dash, capping for the wall will have to be hand-balled through the same gate.

Is the wall a block on flat or on edge? Block on edge is less than half the price of block on flat.

Depending on the circumstances, your price may be reasonable, expensive or cheap. More detail is required.

As mentioned, there are other threads on this topic that deal with these questions, the search facility will locate those.

Walls are much dearer than most would anticipate.
Foundations have to be dug by digger. They cost more if they slope.

I paid 85 euros psqm 4 years ago exlcuding plastering.

Plastering is 16 euros psqm times two for two coats.

remember your wall will probably have half a metre below the ground.
