Mmm, I think it is the supercubes you mean, which are primarily used by British Chains. AFAIR they are something less than 1% of HGV traffic, and most European tunnels won't cater for them either.

Do not know, but the ones I have seen abroad these last few years seem to be getting taller and taller / carrying more and more.
