Hi-

Can anyone recommend some good books or websites about texas hold em poker? Would be especially interested in odds calculators and good lists of starting hand rankings for both limit and no limit.

I've googled on this already and there's just too much info out there and the majority seems to be casino sponsored so its the kind of area in which a recommendation would be very valuable. The best advice site I have found so far is at www.learn-texas-holdem.com

Also, if anyone knows any genuine deals on getting extra cash as a bonus when joining an online poker table, I'd be very interested.

As a long shot - I'm thinking of writing an odds calculator program myself so would be very interested to hear of any resources that might have open source C# code or suggestions on algorithms to use.

search the yahoo groups for poker. Most of them are useless crap and, as you say, are full of people pushing poker books theyve written or online casinos advertising, but theres some dedicated to odds and theres some maths/programmer guys hanging round who mostly recommend 1 or 2 books as being the ones you want, you might find something in there.

Also, pick yourself up a texas holdem can set in the argos for 30e. Table cloth, cards, rules, chips. Cant wait to use mine I got as an xmas pressie..

But are you that bad a player you need a programme to help?? :)

Maybe you are bitter about losing to your sister in the past??

Don't want this to be an ad, but try PartyPoker.com.

I've used it an it's good. I haven't parted with real cash mind you. I just play using the PlayMoney option.

i use pacificpoker free money also. wouldn't put real money in .

Money games range from 10c to a few hundred euro. There are free games aswell, but it is always more interesting with a few euro to play for :)
