Pigment for limewash??

Hi all,
We are using these new areated concrete blocks and now its time to plaster them, we are using lime plaster and DH says this needs to be limewashed three times after the finished plaster, which is fine, but he has also suggested putting pigment into the limewash to colour the walls, this is fine with me in theory but has anyone actully done this ?? Has it worked out? will each batch be the same colour as the last or will this be a total disaster? ADVICE PLEASE

We used to add in some white cement (1 part to 7 parts lime I think) back home.
Kept it nice and white for a couple of years.

The OP is using lime plaster as an alternative to sand/cement render. I don't think she wants to add cement to the limewash!
