Permanent TSB - Mortgage Interest Relief

Hi,

Does anyone have a mortgage with Permanent TSB? Just wondering do they deduct the Mortgage Interest Relief from your mortgage repayments or do they credit the amount to your account?

Also, I am opting for their 'Take 4' Option, whereby I will not make any mortgage repayments for the first four months after drawing down on the morgage. My repayments will then be about €20 more for the term of the mortgage (not too bad as am buying with a friend so only €10 extra a month each and we will be selling after 2 years). Can I claim mortgage interest relief from the date of drawing down the mortgage i.e. get the tax relief for the first four months when I am not making any payments, or do I have to wait until the first payment?

Thanks!

All banks operate TRS in the same manner. It is deducted from your monthly repayment-thus reducing it.

If you are not making payments, I don't think that you can claim relief. You should date your claim from the date of the first repayment.
