Updating my original query, We were unable to get a loan to repay Pepper from a bank or credit union. We needed about half of the settlement amount - the other half was coming from ourselves and family. This despite the equity in the house after repayment. So the question of a Pepper negotiation didn't arise though they did say that we could make an offer below theirs or make one in the future and it would be considered. We are just continuing Pepper payments. Thanks for the replies.
