Hi All,
Other half has no pension and is now 30. he works in a contract role in a specialised area earning 40k with nothing extra. looking for permanent post in this area and having no luck.
we want to start a pension for him as i already have my own through work which will do me.
we have the home and are happy with the cash flow at the monent.

Where would i get an idea of what products would suit him? Have you lot any suggestions perhaps as to what would suit him?

we have a fund for emergencies but he is still uneasy in "locking" money into a pension incase he is out of work for longer than 6 months - which can never be discounted as a possibility. He always imagined in investing in a rental unit which we would sell at retirement and this would be his pension.

A PRSA or a Personal Pension would probably suit best, a PRSA may be better if he wants flexibility to stop and start contributions depending on circumstances?

yes incase he ends up idle for a few months he would not be paying into it.

Nelly - he should probably look at a PRSA, he could continue paying to it even if he lands in a PAYE job too.
