pay off mortgage or invest

Hi,

First post so bear with me. I'm cashing in a small savings policy ~ €20K was had planned to put it into my mortgage. I've already put as much as I can into my pension from a tax efficiency point of view. Are there any other tax efficient investments that might yield more than the interest reduction involved in paying of some of my mortgage?
I've looked into the BES scheme but that seems to be risky. Companies like Davy's have some managed funds but I don't know if now is a good time to be getting in.

Appreciate any advice given.

Bear in mind that paying a lump sum off the mortgage (and ideally reducing the effective term and keeping repayments at their "normal" level) offers a guaranteed return while the sort of investment options that you mention are much less certain.
