If applying for the two-week paternity leave as a civil servant, will my husband be entitled to full pay for those weeks or only the €289 paternity benefit?
Thank you.

Many civil servants are entitled to two weeks parental paternity leave on full pay. He should check with his HR if that's the case here.
Employers are not obliged to pay staff who are on paternity leave, although many public servants get two weeks’ paid paternity leave. If you don’t get paid leave, you may qualify for paternity benefit from the Department of Social Protection if you have sufficient PRSI contributions.

Full pay for paternity leave in the Civil Service. Across the board.

Not unfortunately for parents leave unfortunately.

Sorry, corrected my typo above.
Didn't even notice the typo. And it's more than confusing having paternity, parents, and parental leave as 3 different categories which (in the Civil Service) are also accompanied by different pay levels (full, DSP benefit only, and zero respectively).

On the plus side, fathers (and mothers) in (most parts of) the Civil Service can actually take their full entitlement of each when theyy choose with zero argument. That's far from true in the private sector.
