Does anybody know what entitlement an individual would have in the following circumstances. It applies to a staff colleague and they are very anxious.
Recently seperated, with no assets, minimal savings and no dependents. Seeking rented accomodation and working 20 hours per week.
The work is 5 days a week, for 4 hours per day and there is, currently, no possibility of these hours being increased.
They have told me that Income Support or Jobseekers Allowance is not available if the part time hours are spread over 5 days. Effectively, they need to be available for work on two or three days to claim this benefit.
Is this the case? Does anyone know their entitlements, rent assistance, income support, etc.
