Painting garden furniture

I am giving a new lease of life to weathered wooden garden furniture and the plan is to revamp them with paint. I have applied Dulux trade alluminium wood primer(silver) and just wondering if I am good to go with the paint now or will I have to apply an undercoat first?

Personally I think I'd whack on an undercoat & then go for your top coat, particularly when it's going to be outside in all weather; no point in spoiling the ship for a hap'worth of tar.

Would love to see before/after photo - have considering doing this on my stuff also, but all the fiddly slatted bits are putting me off!

Thanks for that advice and I think I'll take it. I was hoping I could just go ahead with the top coat today as the sun was shining but sure now its raining this afternoon, I'll have plenty of time to shop for a undercoat! The primer didnt take to long at all, very theraputic painting slats..I didnt take any pics of before but some nice photos of painted furniture if you google to give you ideas of colours you might like or whether you prefer gloss or matt finish...a world of choice
