Looking for some help from plumbers out there

Last Thurs a pipe burst in back yard beside outdoor tap due to frost .

We turned off the water supply to this tap and have blocked the pipe ( until we get a new qualpex pipe in place )

Now we turn back on the water and we have NO water in the bathroom/shower upstairs .

Funny thing is that when we turn on the hot water tap in upstairs sink , the cistern fills with water .

We have bled the radiators and even sent the mains water back through system from kitchen sink , but to no avail.

There is a trickle coming through the bathroom sink upstairs .

Both water tanks in attic are full and large tank continues to fill .( I dont know what the small tank is doing )

Will now have to wait until Monday for plumber.

Anyone know what could be wrong as we can't light a fire until its sorted

Sounds like you are airlocked upstairs. Turn on the hot tap upstairs & the hot tap in the kitchen downstairs ( if you have a mixer valve at the kitchen sink). Then cover the mixer outlet with one hand & turn on the cold tap in the kitchen , it should blow the air out of the pipes & once the hot tap upsatirs starts running it will draw out the rest of the air in the system. Then turn off the cold tap downstairs & it should run away.

stick a fire on if you wish or use your heating.

Your house has two seperate systems, plumbing and heating.

The small tank feeds the heating system and the big one feeds the plumbing.

Follow bertie1's advice to clear air lock although I would go to kitchen sink, (if it is a mixer tap) turn on hot put cloth on spout and grip tightly with hand. Turn on cold water to force mains pressure back through line to dislodge air bubble. Becareful and open mains cold tap slowly as you may get soaked. It may work first time but may not, stick at it.

Thanks for the sound advice lads ,

We are now sorted and reckon this must have saved us at least € 100 .
