Home no quote policy

Faced with a 42 percent increase in my home insurance -- no doubt due to a first claim in five years (water damage in last January's big freeze) -- I was shocked and amazed to find companies have introduced a no-quote policy for houses over 100 years old -- and in one instance, over 80 years. As this must affect a considerable part of our housing stock I wonder if this offends the canons of fair trading. Is it even legal?
Any thoughts welcome.

Not all companies refuse to quote for houses over 100 years old. Shop around and make sure to advise any new insurer if you have rewired/replumbed in the last 20 years. J Public is correct. There is no onus on an insurance company to quote for you for home insurance.
