Hi OT, yes there is a list but the idiots who approve the list are probably located in Manchester or Mumbai and don't realise the hassle involved in trying to get from Stephens Green to Clonee for example.
Have you told the idiots about the problem? Nothing will change unless you're prepared to give them some local feedback.
What about the Aishling Hotel beside Heuston Station? It was recently renovated and although I've never been in it, it always looks busy. It's beside the Phoenix Park so they have someone to go for walks, plus the Luas can bring them into town in a few minutes. It would only be about 10mins to Clonee if you go through the Park and the airport isn't too far away either. It's pretty handy for getting to most places
Not a very nice, or imo, a very safe area.
What about the Grand in Malahide. Lovely place, very old world, lots of walks etc, and on the Dart line? I love Malahide, great pubs, Marina, etc. Would give a great impression of Ireland.
The Marine Hotel in Sutton (sister hotel to Grand in Malahide) would be another option - always fascinated me that it was the number 1 or 2 rated hotel in all of Dublin on trip advisor for ages (has now become #1 hotel in Sutton Cross which is not difficult as there is only one!). The service seems to be good there and it is handy for restaurants in Howth, walks on the seafront/cliff walk and dart into town.
Actually, we do drive on the wrong side of the road, in all fairness....these guys don't want to be driving cos we drive on the wrong side of the road apparently...
