I am starting off with my pension since I am now eligible with my new employeer. They use New Ireland for the company pensions & provide the basic 5% employee contribution.

I am wondering what funds I should invest my pension in. There seems to be quite a good few funds. I am just turned 27 & I am €45k.

Most of the people in the company are on the Trinity Fund or normal IRIS funds.

A few people have told me to check out the Mercer Fund.

What about European, Asia, Innovator, Discovery??

I presume its wise to stay away from irish funds.

Mercer are a firm of pension and actuarial consultants - I don't think there's a Mercer fund.

What are your company's pension scheme consultants recommending?

How would you describe your attitude to risk - low risk/low return? Medium Risk/Medium return? Higher Risk/Higher return?

Have you much investment experience or knowledge of global markets?

If the answer to the second question is no, I'd avoid some of the more specialised regional funds e.g. European, Asia etc., as one of the Managed Funds (e.g. Evergreen, Managed etc.) will contain exposure to these areas anyway.
