You mean like tours of the Dail bike shed or the designer security hut with Nike swoosh or the Ballsbridge wall, you can get your history notes from the PAC and Danny healy raeOPW tour guide - chats with tourists, get your steps in around a historic site and a lovely one for history buffs.
good as a rest" comes to mind.......
Sorry to hear that Uafasach. Do you have plans on how to step back? Is it easy to find a job at the level you want elsewhere? My current job resulted in me getting sick last year and I needed some time away. I'm back working now but wondering if I can do this for much longer. I'm wondering if I'm just tired of my core profession or if I am tired of applying that core skillset with my current employer. "A change is as good as a rest" comes to mind.......maybe!
That idea actually occurred to me a couple of years ago. It already happens of course through word of mouth and connections etc but the potential pool must be much wider and deeper. My retirement idea might be to design a website that people in the semi retirement phase match up with those looking for their skills. Anyone want to join me in this endeavour?!
I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would want to work after "retirement". If you're forced by financial circumstances that's one thing but going "hey, I've retired from my job, what kind of a job will I draw a salary for next?" is just nuts to me. Work to live!!I think as said previously that you’re probably better off to be at something
Work in the house, travel, work in the garden, exercise classes, travel, library, Netflix/Disney Plus, learning languages, travel, travel, travel.....
Currently, just at the 'thinking' stage! Working for a US multinational has it's pros and cons.Do you have plans on how to step back? Is it easy to find a job at the level you want elsewhere?
I stopped working to be a full-time stay at home parent. Despite having small kids at home to keep somewhat busy, I absolutely hated it. Since then, I have been working part-time (self employed). For me, it's a better balance. Still travel as I was away 9 weeks last years. But even travelling becomes sort of routine when you do it too often I find. My kids are now older and I am towing with the idea of finding something more in terms of work. While my part-time work somewhat helped the household finances, we absolutely don't need more money...I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would want to work after "retirement". Board membership, many companies and charities are looking for active board members. Not sure how to get into that.
working in some form or another in a library or museum would strike me as being a lovely way to work when I am older.
Teach one of my skills... As I said, low financial value but it keeps me somewhat busy, during the winter. I am mostly free during the summer... I find it tough when I don't travel! What type of self employment do you do? It sounds ideal to have control about how much you put into work
