new car tax

any idea how long it takes to new car taxed for first time? Garage arranged it but its a month now. Can't get answer from tax place itself - hanging on for 20 minutes and then cut off!

Are you ringing the motor tax office in Shannon 1890 411 412?
I had to ring them a couple of times at the start of the month to sort out my tax and my call was always answered. Give them the reg of the car and they will be able to tell you the status of your tax application.
