New car - advice needed

Seeing as you have the money, why not get a Prestige Hybrid car, such as a [broken link removed]? Customers would be impressed both by the brand and the green credentials.

I totally agree. The Lexus is a classy vehicle. The Mercedes has become a symbol of nouveau riche/Celtic Tiger - "look how I am considerably richer than you" mentality. The BMW's now are two a penny and are being driven by Irish chavs (skangers with money?), solicitors, TD/Ministers/lobbyists, drug pushers, bimbo celeb models, young yobs in baseball caps etc - especially the 3 and 5 series.

The bigger Lexus hybrids are classy without being ostentatious. Lexus is the best selling luxury car in the U.S., well in the North West anyway where I visited recently. From next July they are going to be scarce!

The big Audi's, according to Clarkson and mechanics in the trade are supposed to be better than the Mercs and BMW's. Mercs always gave me the wrong impression (my jealousy?) when doing business with suppliers I dealt with in a previous job... were they creaming too much from our contracts etc?

I wish I could empathise with the problem of what to do with a car budget of €55K!

Opted for an Audi A6 on advice from a few people. Good car with good performance however not too flash as to put people off. Also recommended by Jermy Clarkson!!!!

Which one ?? A6 2.0tdi all the way to all road tdi....
Why pass on BMW 520d 320d far superior Co2g/km or the
Saab Bio, Accord 2.2d, Lexus 220d
if so interested in giving off a stealthier impressive persona..
Nothing against the A6 but given you opening comments,
is this not a tad, albeit higher end rep-mobile?

However, your choice so safe driving...

Nice spec'ed AUdi A6. Shows that your not too flash, know a good car and great comfort and economy if you get say a diesel version

Young(ish) Professional type here, and I've a top of the range with loads of extras 2.4L Diesel Alfa 159 TI on order - coming in three weeks for under €54k.

Current car being traded in Saab 93. Cars directly before that were A6 and A4.

So, I'm getting less risk adverse as I get older! :)

Hope you know a good mechanic!!!

Changed my mind - now looking at a C180 - petrol - automatic. Much more sporty than I originally thought. 54K for a high spec - leather interiors, massive space. Any opinions?
