N26 Debit Card Fraud

Last night, someone drained my N26 account with 19 simultaneous transactions of $10.95 each. The merchant is listed as a
website called "creatorfy.com." I promptly blocked my debit card and initiated a chargeback. However, the chatbot was entirely unhelpful, and no human agent was available until this morning. When I finally spoke to an agent, they were equally unhelpful, claiming that chargeback procedures couldn't be initiated while the transactions were still processing. This contradicts the app, which states that chargeback procedures for each of the 19 charges had already been initiated. Doesn't look very hopeful.

What did you do on the site?
What was the exact sequence of steps that you carried out there leading up to the transactions being made on your card?
Presumably you actually gave them your card details to pay for some product or service?
I can't see anything on the site that clarifies what their charges are and for what.
It's an odd looking site but maybe makes more sense to gamers or something?

I didn't do anything on the site, wasn't even aware that it existed before this happened. They must somehow have gotten hold of my debit card details. Two reviews on Trustpilot say that the same thing happened to them. Looks like the website might just be a front for a scam.

complaints@n26.com
Maybe send an email now to this email. Do not expect a quick response, however when they get back to you in up to 6 months, if you have a case, you may be more likely to get refund etc. I complained about something different, and 6 months later, received a detailed response and €30.

I am so sorry this happened. Must be a shock, that no one needs.

Thanks for that, I initiated a charge back request (19 separate ones) and the app says I will hear back by Tuesday. If that doesn't work I will email them (there's also a kind of Ombudsman I can write to if that doesn't work)

You're saying that you never even visited the site at all but they started charging your card?

It may be that a third party obtained your card details and started making payments on that site. The site in question may not be culpable. Did you contact them to query the charges?

Yes I emailed them at the only email address they publish (info@creatorfy.com) but the email bounced.

Somebody else has your card details and is buying from this site. You should immediately lock your card on the N26 app.

Not sure from where they took the card details since I barely use this card. This year I used it for Booking.com, for online tickets with Swiss & Polish railways & to pay OTC at Polish & Moroccan convenience stores. One of these outlets must have been hacked.

Glad you appear to be on the way to being sorted. The last one or two transactions you mention could be suspect but its difficult to know. Do you use it for ATM withdrawals ? In any event your card number is compromised. Make sure that card is cancelled and you get a replacement - even if you have to pay the €10 charge it will be worth it for the peace of mind.

Doesn't matter now but the ombudsman in this case is the Bundesbank. It's supposed to be BaFin or the Bundesbank but it was the latter that sorted me. Hopefully it's all resolved now for you.
