My mum is most likely going to get a place in a nursing home in the coming months. She's already approved for fair deal. She was gifted €5000 in her brothers will, and the money should be disbursed this month. Can she keep/spend this money, or will it be considered "income" and they would take 80% of it? Her current care costs are very high, so if it was used for that, would that make a difference?
