Mortgage allowance on Maternity

Can you tell me if a lone parent on maternity leave in receipt of the max social welfare maternity benefit €280pw is entitled to any help with mortgage repayments of 1200pm? Would I qualify for mortgage allowance from the HSE although legally employed?
Would I qualify for lone parents payment while on maternity leave if I wouldn't qualify when I return to work as my normal salary is c.€650pw?

You should go and see your Community Welfare Officer at your local health centre and put your case to him. Do your homework in advance as your time with him is limited. Busy person.

Work out total bills Mortgage, ESB, Phone, Heat, Insurance, Car,Food etc (on a weekly basis) and see how it matches with €280! Bring bills and calculations with you

And if you are already in difficulties always contact creditors (e.g. mortgage lender) as early as possible to explain the situation rather than ignoring the situation and missing repayments. The fact that you face up to difficulties and contact them early on will stand to you with them or with any third party who might assess the situation.

If you satisfy the conditions (including the means-test), you can get One-parent Family Payment and get half-rate Maternity Benefit.
