3. Public Sector representation.
Any mention of cuts in the public sector and we always hear from those representing teachers, nurses, gardai, etc.
Maybe because these are the front line public servants to whom most people can relate and it better illustrates, therefore, the effect of any potential cutbacks. I don't think media stories about administrators would exactly capture the public imagination, even thought their ultimate contribution to public services might be just as necessary.

for example......
1. AIB Pay rise
2. Not one banker in prison, but in the USA they're in chains...
3. Public Sector representation.
....we always hear from teachers, nurses, gardai, etc. Why? Are these the only public sector workers out there?
Got any examples of this? It doesn't ring any bells for me.Getting back to the OP one of the myths being spun by the media is classifying nearly everyone as being "the most vunerable in society"
Now that we are back on the topic, here's an example from today where 2 media outlets report the same story with 2 completely angles.
Shame on RTE, as our National broadcaster it has a duty present the story without their own agenda. You have to even scroll way down to find story.
http://www.rte.ie/news/2009/1023/cso.html
or there is a more thorough coverage with 2 pieces at
http://www.breakingnews.ie/
Note the headlines especially. RTE has a lot to answer for.
I never mentioned the word myth in my point (post10). only in response to another poster. I am simply pointing out RTE took (take) a pro public sector angle and am using another reporting of the same quotes to highlight this in this instance.
