Management Company charging

Hi has anyone heard of this before, not all the units in our developement have been sold yet so the management company has passed on the deficent from last year management fees from the units not sold onto the existing tenants, surely the builder is the owner of the units and should pay for that area around them to be maintained and pay his lump of insurance...FUMING
 
Yes - I have heard of this happening before both here on AAM (including in one very recent thread which you should be able to find by browsing/searching) and elsewhere. It's most likely allowed for by the rules (articles and memo of understanding) of the management company. Did you get your solicitor to explain all the ins and outs and potential implications of the make up of your specific management company? The NCA at www.consumerconnect.ie have a booklet about management companies which might be worth checking.
