Low jobseeker personal rate

Hi all.

I worked 2 years as a special needs assistant.
My contract was not renewed and I claimed for jobseekers benefits.I used to earn more than 300 euros / month and according the citizen information website my personal rate should be 188 euros per month.

The social welfare in Tallaght calculated my personal rate at 147.30 euros per week. The social officer only confirmed that it was low without any further explanation. I'd like to know who can help me to tackle this problem.

Any hints welcome.

Thx

According to what you have said you earned more than €300 per month...the amount you can receive on jobseekers benefit is on average weekly earnings.

If you are >25 years of age apply for optional jobseekers allowance which is means tested and the means come back as nil means then you will receive €188 a week. If you are <25 years of age there is no point in applying for jobseekers allowance as the maximum rate is €144.00 per week and if you are living at home your parents income will be assessed as means.
