I'm looking for a gasket for my pressure cooker and my local electrical shop has stopped stocking them a few months ago. Any ideas of where I might get one please?

Re: Prestige pressure cooker gasket

Did a quick google and came up with who have gaskets for sale through their website.

They also have a bricks and mortar shop in North Dublin City.

(no connection to the place, never heard of them till I googled!)

What kind of pressure cooker have you got? I got gaskets for my Prestige Stainless Steel PC on Amazon, got 3 for 13GBP or something like that. My local hardware shop sold one for 15.95!! That said I am looking at buying a new one as it's not working that great, what have you got? any good? Thanks! Mrs Wishbone

Hi Mrs Wishbone.

I wish I had seen your post before I went into spare parts. Yes I paid €15.95. Well, I'll know when I need the next one.

I have a Prestige Stainless Steel with an automatic timer.

I find it ok though some things that are supposed to be cooked very easily in it don't do so well for me. I tried to do pudding rice but burned it. I think that's just as quickly done in a pot. I find it great for dinners, stews, curries, savoury mince, that sort of thing.

I noticed Lidl have one for €49.99. It looks a nice one.

I don't know how much mine was because it was a present so I don't know if that's a good price or not.

I also got a tip: rub a tiny amount of oil on the gasket before putting the lid on. Apparently that was in the old pressure cooker books.
