Locksmith for Bedroom Key

Hey,

Does anyone have an idea how much a locksmith in Cork would cost to come out and open a bedroom door. The key is gone missing and we can't get into the bedroom. Would be extra in the evening?

Try all the other keys for your internal doors in the lock - if your lock is a standard inside door lock there are only 16 variants of those keys as far as I know. If you don't have one that matches perhaps ask to borrow all of someone else's keys and try those or it should be possible buy a full set of 16 from a locksmith.

Hi Hybie
I was charged €200 (ouch, but it was very late) in Dublin for a night time call out, so even if cheaper in Cork, will still be a financial sting. Try the keys as suggested by Brouhahaha first. Also ring around a few lock-smiths to get quotes before you call someone out. I suspect the charges do get more expensive as the evening goes on (fair enough), so if you're going to call someone tonight, sooner rather than later maybe.(depending if there is a cut off time after which the price is raised, of course)

I did this once and couldn't find a suitable key. I managed to "persuade" the door open with a sledge- no way I'd cough up €200 for the services of a locksmith for this scenario!

get onto these guys just off western road - over the bridge from the square deal furiture.

they supply the full set of basta keys for a deposit of 20E and then you return the kes and pay for the one or more keys 2.50 each or something. there are two different sets of keys the new ones and the old ones.

Got it sorted today lads...thanks for all your help! Got a set of Basta keys from a key-cutter after giving a €40 euro deposit and found the right one, came back and got deposit back and key cut. cheers

I'm astonished at you, Carpenter....a sledge....to open a door.

You should get 3 or 4 keys cut in case you lose them again.

Some locksmiths have a large key ring that has one key of each type for a specific brand (e.g. basta locks).
You can take this home, try all the keys until you find the right one, go back to the shop, and they'll cut the key for you.
Should not cost you more than few euro.
